Those pesky nudibranchs!Seahorses don’t move a lot. Evidently to the nudibranch, this seahorse was just part of the mucky bottom in Ambon Harbor.
H/T to @diverwen, who called me over to see this.

I found this fossil sea 🧡🌊urchin preserved in flint
I am heading out on the fossil walk today , with Dr . Iain Au-Yong , 👨⚕️ 🌀This type of sea urchin is what he’d like to find . Now that I’ve said it we won’t find a thing like that , it usually ends up being something else . We will take the safety glasses and sturdy rubber gloves just in case . 🧤🥽 @brandonfossils
Scrub-a-dub-dub, a bathing Peacock Mantis Shrimp 🛀
Mantis shrimp have the most fascinating and complex eyes of any other creature I've heard of.
Humans have 3 photorecepting cones in our eyes (blue, green, red) which allow us to see millions of different colors within our visible light spectrum - red through violet.
Mantis shrimp have up to 16 cones, indicating they have MUCH more advanced color recognition systems and can see in ways that we can't even begin to imagine.
They can also see in ultraviolet, polarized and infrared light.
Both eyes move independently from each other, and they can perceive depth with only one eye.
Aside from the eyes, they also have claws that can either punch or stab its prey so fast that they literally break the sound barrier (and can even make the water around them boil).
