Bryozoans or moss animals live in fresh, brackish and marine waters, with some even residing deep in oceanic trenches. All but one genus of these creatures live in colonies. Most colonies are made up of different specialised animals or zooids. Some are specialised to create the tubing that holds eggs and acts as a hatchery. Some zooids have the special job of removing waste from the animals that filter feed with their crown of ciliated tentacles. Nifty.
